Community in Mind

The Community in Mind strategy was developed by the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA).  It serves as a guide to agencies in developing, targeting and coordinating their work to support the psychosocial recovery of Christchurch communities, following the earthquake of 22 February 2011 and subsequent aftershocks.

Ministry of Health renews its commitment to health promotion

In a consultation draft published 2013, the Ministry of Health (MoH) renewed its commitment to health promotion as one of five core functions for public health.


Disaster management through a health promotion lens

This literature review, by Dr Tara Kessaram and Assoc Prof Louise Signal, reveals how a health promotion framework may be applied to the work of disaster management.  It shows the contribution health promotion strategies can make to increasing the resilience - and reducing the vulnerability - of a community to the impact of disasters.

The paper was commissioned by the HPF as part of its peer-reviewed Keeping Up to Date series and published in spring/summer 2011.
